Client receiving the healing touch of the holistic treatment called Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic practice that involves the understanding, study, and application of pressure to points and areas in the feet and hands that correspond to specific parts of the body. Through precise hand and finger techniques, I aim to enhance circulation, promote relaxation, and facilitate homeostasis, thereby stimulating the body's innate healing mechanisms.

Dating back to ancient civilizations in Egypt and China, reflexology has been recognized for its therapeutic benefits for millennia. Historical evidence, including Egyptian tomb artwork dating back to 2000BC, depicts scenes of foot massages, indicating early acknowledgment of its healing properties.

The modern practice of reflexology was introduced to the West by Dr. William Fitzgerald in 1913. He discovered that applying pressure to certain parts of the body could elicit responses in other areas, forming the basis of "zone therapy." In the 1930s, Eunice Ingham further developed this concept into reflexology as we know it today, identifying reflexes on the feet and hands as precise representations of the body's organs.

Reflexology is considered a complementary therapy that contributes to restoring homeostasis to the entire person, addressing not only symptoms but also underlying imbalances. Suitable for individuals of all ages, it can offer relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Many people find continued benefit from regular treatments, which support overall health and well-being.

I conduct a thorough confidential consultation to understand your health history and lifestyle. Treatment is tailored to your individual needs, with precise pressure techniques applied to reflex points on the feet. Afterward the session, you may experience feelings of relaxation and well-being, though some transient reactions such as lethargy or emotional release may occur, signaling the body's response to treatment.

To maximize the benefits of reflexology, it's recommended to rest and hydrate adequately after a session, allowing the body to detoxify and heal naturally.

I practice reflexology from my home located in Ayrfield, Dublin 13. To ensure your comfort during the session, I recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing. As an added treat, I offer a homemade organic ginger shot post-treatment for anyone interested, to further enhance your well-being experience.
