What to Expect
It's rare you meet someone who hasn't been touched by cancer. I lost 2 beautiful friends and my uncle this year and wanted to give something back. For that reason I am teaching 3 online classes between Christmas & New Year and donating all proceeds to the Irish Cancer Society. One class is €12.50, all three are €30. The Irish Cancer society provide support in numerous ways, some of which include providing information & advice, funding life-saving cancer research, supporting families & patients every day, campaigning for better treatments for patients and working to reduce cancer risk. Details re online classes are as follows: ✅️ 90min Yin Yoga class at 8pm on Tues the 27th Dec ✅️ 30min HIIT class at 9am on Wed the 28th Dec ✅️ 30min Stretch class at 6pm on Wed the 28th Dec If you've never experienced Yin Yoga before, you are in for a treat. Make sure you have lots of props available to you, a thick book to sit on for meditation (if you don't have blocks), a blanket to go over you for the savasana, cushions or pillows. It's always nice to have a blanket down on your mat as it's important to be warm and comfortable, and it's nice to have extra support for your knees. Light some candles, burn incense or put on your diffuser. Make the 90mins about you! Yin yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic yoga styles that are predominant today. In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for 5 minutes + in order to access a safe 'stress' on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. Physically, when we hold the stress, our tissues deform, reform and become longer, thicker and stronger. Energetically, we stimulate acupressure points and meridian lines that send energy to our organs. And as this practice emphasises stillness and silence, Yin yoga prepares the mind for deeper experiences in meditation. Be prepared to sweat at 9am on Wednesday the 28th December and work off the Quality Street! This class will be suitable for all levels, as I will show high and low intensity versions of each exercise. If you have weights or dumb bells, be sure to have them near as they up the intensity of your workout significantly and rev your metabolism for longer after your workout than just pure cardio. You will need a towel and water as it's a sweaty session. In case you are sore from the HIIT class, we will stretch it all out that evening at 6pm. Please have a belt/scarf, and a towel/blanket to support your knees. No yoga experience required.
