What to Expect

At the Autumn Equinox (September 23rd 2023 at 07:49), the sun shines directly on the equator, and the northern and southern hemispheres get equal amounts of rays. The word Equinox is derived from the Latin words for equal (aequus) and night (nox). This September 23rd at 7:15am Irish time, I invite you to join me on Zoom as we flow through 108 sun salutations together. Some experience of Sun Salutations is recommended, but not wholly necessary. The practice of 108 Sun Salutations is a powerful practice. As the body warms up, we begin by connecting deeply to our breath. As we move through the salutations, our awareness turns inwards, the busy mind settles, heat builds, we activate prana, we cleanse & detoxify, we let go of anything that no longer serves us (stuck emotions) & we welcome fresh beginnings. 108 sun salutations is known as a moving meditation, where each move is linked to the breath. The number 108 is sacred and significant in many disciplines. To name but a few, there are 108 pressure points and 108 energy lines in the body; the distance between the Earth and sun is 108 times the diameter of the sun; India is said to have 108 sacred sites, many Buddhist temples have 108 steps representing the 108 steps to enlightenment. We will practice Surya Namaskar A. 12 moves with 12 breaths. 108 times.
